Its establishment was approved and published in the Official Gazette dated October 30, 2010 and numbered 27744. Appointed as the founding dean of our faculty, Prof. Dr. Ali Akpinar, a Lecturer of the Faculty of Theology at Selcuk University, started his duty on June 22, 2011, and as of 2014, Prof. Dr. Sehmus Demir, a Lecturer of the Faculty of Theology at Ataturk University, was assigned as the dean. (He assumed the role of vice-rector from 2017 to September 2020.)
Our faculty started education in the academic year of 2011-2012 with 81 students, as 62 Turkish and 19 foreign students. In the academic year of 2013-2014, the Department of Primary Education Religious Culture and Moral Education Department admitted students. As of the academic year of 2019-2020, our faculty continues education with 1253 students.
Education in our faculty continues as daytime (I) and evening (II) education. Master’s and doctorate programs continue actively in our faculty. 23 faculty members, including 4 professors and 3 associate professors, 10 research assistants, 6 lecturers, and 14 administrative personnel actively serve in our faculty.
“Basic Islamic Sciences”, “Philosophy and Religious Sciences”, and “Islamic History and Arts” Departments are available in our faculty. Education activities continue in the new building of our faculty, the construction of which was completed by SANKO Holding. There are 5123 books, reference resources and more than 40 periodicals registered to YORDAM Library Automation System used in the library of our faculty. In addition, registry of 1354 books, which have been purchased by the Library and Documentation Department for use in our library, into our system is in progress.
